Carolyn Davidson Brewer I would like to say hello to everyone in the NTLP area and beyond.  While my absence from NTRLS / NTLP was brief, there have been many changes at the NTLP office and staff.  As most of you know by now, our staff is much smaller and we miss our friends, as I know many of you do also.  We wish all of them the best and thankfully, can stay in touch with Adam Wright, who is now one of the Assistant Directors at Fort Worth Library.

As the new Executive Director, I have hit the ground running.  NTLP is at an exciting time in its existence and we look forward to working with all of our System members through August 2012 and all of our Partners through infinity and beyond!  All of us at the NTLP office would like to invite every library in Texas to take a look at what our Partnership provides in services and resources.

Remember, we are in creation and strengthening mode and look forward to your input and ideas.  Mark your calendars for the “Tour of Libraries” dates, come meet us, ask questions and let us know how we can help your library.  This is a tough time across the state as different System offices are closing their doors.  It is difficult for us at NTLP also as we cease being the North Texas Regional Library System as of August 2012.

Change is always scary and the unknown is uncomfortable.  For those from other regional systems, NTLP is a non-profit designed to support libraries in supporting their communities.  This is, of course, a simplified statement of our mission and goals, but it is the foundation that keeps us going.

We currently offer vendor discounts, consortia for aggregate buying, and group purchasing discounts.  These programs will be growing so that you as a library director can make your budgets go further and your services to your community grow stronger.

Just remember, “hang on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride!”  - or maybe even better “hang on, it’s going to be an exciting, successful, inventive, supporting, the sky’s the limit ride for libraries!”
